Work in Progress on Over 20 Projects in Al Shamal and Ruwais Area

Dr Saad bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi, Chairman of the Public Works Authority Ashghal, announced that the integrated plan incorporates 20 different projects to serve Al Shamal city and Al Ruwais with a total cost of QR2.2bn and are planned to be completed by 2022.


These projects incorporates construction and development of roads, infrastructure, sewage and buildings in Al Shamal city and Al Ruwais area to serve around 3,600 parcel of land, including finished projects worth QR 1.4bn. 

The plan additionally includes new project worth QR850m, including the undertaking of Al Shamal city's health and wellness center with a cost of QR144 mn. 

Engineer Saud Al Tamimi, Director of Road Projects, evaluated infrastructure projects that are going to be executed in the zone. The plan incorporates the development of streets and infrastructure expecting to restore the existing local and and inside streets with length of 73km. 

Also establishment of another sewage connection system with length of 91 km and development of 12 intersections, 28 km of walkways and 8,000 parking spots, construction of around 3,680 lighting poles, and 1,000 signing boards in Al Tamim area were outlined. 

Al Tamimi also added that the sanitation projects in Al Shamal city and Ruwais, incorporates development of a sewage pumping station with a capacity of 95 liters per second, and another sewage treatment plant of Al Shamal city. 

Engineer Mohsen Al Rashid, Director of Building Projects at Ashghal, told about the health and wellness center, that is spread across an area of 25,000 sqm with diverse facilities and sections. This center will include around 315 shaded parking spots and is expected to be completed by end of 2020.
