Qatar and Kuwait has decided to stop renewing work visa to North Korean nationals in the light of  UN Security Council sanctions against the country, said a Reuters report. The workers will have to leave these countries once their visas got expired.

The UN Security Council imposed sanctions on North Korea after its provocative nuclear tests and missile.

Qatar said on Tuesday that it will fully comply with all UN sanctions and had already stopped issuing visas to North Korean workers after the sanctions in 2015 itself. Qatar’s Government Communications Office said that some 1000 workers, who were employed prior to 2015, will leave as their employment contract expires. Agency also claimed that there are no North Korean workers in any of the World Cup construction sites.

Kuwait, which hosts only North Korean diplomatic mission in the region, also decided to expel the North Korean ambassador and downgrade ties. A charge d‘affaires will represent the country now onwards.
