The Indian Embassy in Doha has announced that Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) have been exempted by the Indian Department of Telecom (DoT) to produce Aadhaar as e-KYC for verification of mobile connections.

As such, the category of subscribers shall be able to re-verify their mobile connections by using the alternative methods.

The procedure for the verification and scanned copy of the format(s) is available on the embassy’s FB and Twitter accounts.

This move comes as a sigh of relief for the numerous overseas Indians, who are facing difficulties in operating mobile connections in India due to Aadhaar-based KYC requirements.
