Arab League reiterated its neutral stand in the ongoing Gulf Crisis on Wednesday with Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit saying that the organization is neither with nor against any party in the crisis. Organization supports the Kuwaiti mediation to end the dispute, he added.

Gheit said that crisis was not a topic of discussion among the council of delegates or the ministerial council, except for the support for the efforts of HH the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

He said that the mechanisms of Arab League mandates it not to intervene in the crisis. Qatar is a member of the organization with “all responsibilities, duties and rights,” he pointed out.

Gheit expressed hope that a breakthrough will be achieved to solve the crisis.
