One of the most celebrated Hollywood actress, Meryl Streep, has filed an application to trademark her name.

The actress, in this regard, filed an application with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on January 22, which requests that the name Meryl Streep be trademarked for “entertainment services,” movie appearances, speaking engagements and autographs, as reported by The Times of Oman.

Streep also extended her record to 21 Academy Award nominations last week for her role in “The Post.”

She has won three Oscars, three Emmys and six Golden Globes during her 40-year long career on stage, screen and television.

As a matter of fact, celebrities trademarking their names has become a common affair, mostly catch phrases to protect their intellectual property, stop other people from misusing them or for business purposes.

For instance, renowned singer Taylor Swift has filed some 60 trademark applications in the last 10 years.
