Clothing believed to belong to an elderly woman missing in far north Queensland has been found near a crocodile-infested creek, north of Cairns.

Anne Cameron, 79, was reported missing from an aged care facility near Port Douglas yesterday.

Police and SES volunteers searched the area and asked residents, particularly those living on rural properties, to search for the woman.

Earlier today police announced they had found clothing and "other items of interest" on the banks of an unnamed creek, just south of Four Mile Beach.

Ozcare, the company that runs the aged care facility, has declined to comment.
