Statistics of Ministry of Interior services and transactions in March 2018

Pursuant to the plans of the Ministry of Interior, to implement its strategy (2018-2022) to improve the quality of services, the statistics issued by the General Directorate of Information Systems on the services provided electronically during the first quarter of this year (January - March) through the website of the Ministry of the Interior and the application of Metrash 2 amounted as many as (1,885,639) transactions. The public can now enjoy more than (350) services through the Ministry of Interior website and Metrash2, which reflects the great benefit that electronic services have achieved to the public.

 

The number of subscribers to Metrash2 application reached 417,723 subscribers by the end of March of this year. The total number of services implemented through the application reached 679,833, while the query services performed during the same period reached 1,938,931. The services provided through the Ministry of Interior website amounted to 1,205,806.

Decentralized services

As part of the policy of decentralizing the services of the Ministry of the Interior and aiming to expand the service centres, the statistics prepared by the General Directorate of Passports showed a rise in transactions completed in various Service Centers, totaling 342,884 transactions during March 2018. Out of this 29,529 were traffic transactions, 9,963 fingerprint services and 2,549 Qatari passport related transactions. The visa and residence permit services completed during the month of March in different Services Centers reached 248,828 transactions, while other services were 52,015.

The unified service centers, which cover most areas of the country, offer many services to the public (Visas, residences, traffic, fingerprints, Qatari passports and other related services as well as a dedicated service to help the elderly and persons with disabilities.

In terms of services and transactions in the service centers, Rayyan Services Center topped the list with 27.2% of all the services performed in MOI services centers spread across the country, followed by Al Wakra Center by 12.4% and Mesaimeer Services Centre (11.5%).  Most of the MOI services centres are open from 6 am to 6 pm on weekdays from Sunday to Thursday.

Services Completed by General Directorate of Passports 

The monthly statistics of the transactions carried out by the General Directorate of Passports during the month of March 2018 showed a significant increase in the number of completed transactions, reaching 1,653,733 transactions, which were accomplished through the General Directorate and its various departments such as Expatriate Affairs, Border Passports, Airport passports, Search and Follow-up and Unified Services Departments. 

The total number of transactions completed during the month of March 2018 through the Department of Expatriates Affairs was 79,408 transactions, while the total transactions completed through the Department of Unified Services reached 342,884 transactions. 32,621 transactions were completed in Border Passports Department while 1,171,976 completed at Airport Passports. The statistics of the Search and Follow-up Department indicated that 26,844 transactions were completed during the month of March.

The transactions performed by the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities Section, which provides services to this category through the hall reserved for them, amounted to 778 services during the month of March, while the number of services that were exempted from the fees of some services provided by this section reached 1067 cases. The Committee to look into Bringing in Applications dealt with 71,088 transactions during the month

Visas and Borders

In March 2018, 93,973 visitors entered the country on Visa-free facility which shows a 30.3% increase from February of the same year. This facility was initiated as part of the country's tourism plans. The total number of transactions completed through the Airport Passports Department during the month of March amounted to 1,171,976 transactions, an increase by 11.2% compared to February.

The number of arriving and departing passengers through Hamad International Airport in the month of March 2018 reached 867,241 passengers, of whom 189,212 passengers used e-gates at the entry or exit.

The total number of transactions carried out during the month of March by Border Passports reached 32,621 transactions, which shows 54.8% increase compared to last February. The entry visas given by the Department through Seaports Passports Section – Ruwais Port, Doha Port, Mesaieed Port and Ras Laffan Port, were 3,922. 

Expatriate Affairs & Search and Follow up

The total number of transactions provided to the public through the Department of Expatriates Affairs during the month of March 2018 was 79,408 transactions, an increase of 4%. The Department provides Visa and Residence Permit Services in addition to establishment card (Computer Card) services. which rose in March with a total of 4463 transactions and an increase of 19.1% compared to February 2018. This was in keeping pace with the country's large commercial activity whereas the Ministry of Interior has given great attention to simplify its procedures.

 

The total number of transactions executed through the Search and Follow-up Department during the month of March was 26,844 with an increase of 27.3%. The Department services include services related with workers, violation of work and visit visas and application for new recruitment.  

In order to access MOI services in a simplified manner, the Public Relations Department appeals to the public to take advantage of the electronic channels such as MOI e-services portal and Metrash2 mobile app to access the services quickly and easily. The Department also urges the public to communicate with Ministry of Interior with their comments and feedback on MOI services through social media pages and website of the Ministry of Interior.
