Women one step ahead

Qatar has high economic development aspirations and resources to achieve them and it strongly believes in equal contribution of both sexes.

Qatari women are highly educated, interested in having satisfying careers, eager to be of service to their nation, and willing to work hard to succeed.

Qatar has equally provided all necessary space for women and believes in their equal contribution to Qatar society. 

The A.T. Kearney study says ‘that women in the GCC are ambitious and value their careers.

They are confident in their contribution to the workplace, and they do not believe that having a family should be an impediment’.

In last 20 years Qatar’s women work force has seen an increase of 19% with leading position for female labor participation by contributing 51% to FLPR (female labor participation ratio) .

Under the QFC Law, a female employee is entitled to 3 months maternity leave.

That leave will be paid maternity leave where the employee has been employed by an employer for a complete year preceding the eight weeks before the expected delivery date

Even Qatari law is straight and clear about termination during period of pregnancy it states that an employer may not terminate a female employee's employment, or change her position or conditions, based upon her marriage or pregnancy

The nation has already eliminated many of the legal and social barriers that block women’s career success and has a strong commitment to advancing the role of women in the workforce.

Women in Qatar now have the right to vote, drive, and pursue many career opportunities.

Sustaining and expanding efforts to promote women’s success will be important for the nation to benefit more fully from their potential contributions Qatari women are likely to play a key role in the country’s economic future and participation in the workforce by women is steadily increasing.
