A three-member empanelled cultural troupe from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will perform in Qatar “to mesmerise the audience with their musical symphony”, the Indian embassy in Doha has announced.  The three artistes are Debasmita Bhattacharya , Sangita Bhattacharya and Debajit Patitundi.
The first performance will take place today as the Indian embassy, in partnership with Katara — the Cultural Village, presents ‘An Evening of Hindustani Instrumental Music’. The event will be held from 7pm at Drama Theatre, Building 16, Katara.
Tomorrow, the embassy, in partnership with the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), will hold the second performance from 7pm at Ashoka Hall, ICC, Doha. Then, on August 28, the embassy, in partnership with Indian Society Dukhan, will stage the third performance at 7pm at Dukhan Cinema, Dukhan.
Debasmita is one of India’s finest young exponents of the sarod (an Indian string instrument).

Her musical journey began at the age of four years. Debasmita has received numerous accolades and awards as an acknowledgement of her enthusiasm and dedication to the art of music. She is currently empanelled with the ICCR. Sangita will be playing the tanpura, also an Indian string instrument, while Debajit is an emerging avid tabla player.
