How to Prevent Hair Loss before It even Begins

The causes of hair loss are plentiful and they range from genetics and hormonal imbalances to poor hair care and aging. Depending on many factors, one or multiple of these causes could contribute towards you losing your hair down the line. However, there are ways in which we can actually reduce the chances of hair loss even before it sets in. Keep in mind that while these methods are definitely not guaranteed to ensure that you will never see your hairline thinning, they reduce the chances of that happening.

 

Keep the Hairstyling to a Minimum

Unless you are in show business where you have no choice, try to keep your hair away from chemicals, colors, and artificial heat as much as possible. This includes perms, hair straightening, hair coloring and pretty much any styling procedure that’s harmful to your hair. During a perm or a straightening session, the natural bonds of your hair are broken in order to give it the desired look. This makes the hair brittle and weak, which as you can imagine, often leads to hair loss later on. Coloring, on the other hand, is harmful because it contains chemicals, and due to their very design, those chemicals will stay on for a long time, causing long-term damage. While the hair coloring industry has come a long way now and there are colors today that contain a lot less of these harmful chemicals than their predecessors, it’s still a good idea to refrain from coloring your hair too often.

Keep Your Hair Healthy from the Inside

In order to keep our scalp and hair healthy from the inside, we need to maintain a steady supply of vitamin B, calcium, iron, protein, biotin and zinc (to name a few) within our body. Eat a balanced diet and make sure that salmon, chicken, strawberries, almonds, mushrooms, beans, and pumpkin seeds are often a part of those meals. If you cannot find the time or don’t have the resources to eat a balanced meal all the time, just make sure that you are supplementing with vitamin pills and other dietary supplements to make up for that.

Maintain Your Hair

Celebrities and models who maintain their hair on a regular basis often get away with even the harshest of experiments because regular care makes their hair strong enough to withstand the occasional tortures. You will find a few common but effective ways to take care of your hair below.

  • Massage your scalp with jojoba oil/emu oil/almond oil
  • Drink Spearmint tea
  • Massage the scalp with a mixture of almond oil, arnica, rosemary, safflower, and licorice
  • Massage with onion juice

Although the steps mentioned above will provide you with a better chance of protecting yourself against hair loss even before it begins, sometimes, it will happen anyway. There are various reasons such as genetics, premature aging, and disorders of the scalp, and there's only so much that you can do to prevent the inevitable. However, the good news is that a handful of hair restoration products out there that can actually help you in such situations because unlike most of the other products in the market, these really do help in hair re-growth.
