8 Things You Need To Know Before You Watch Solo: A Star Wars Story in Cinemas

The space scoundrel loved by all, Han Solo, may have perished by the hands of his son, Kylo Ren, in 2015’s The Force Awakens but we haven’t seen the last of him just yet thanks to the spin off prequel Solo: A Star Wars Story. The film takes us back to Han Solo’s adventures before he meets Luke & Leia. Through a series of daring escapades, we’ll get to meet young Han Solo as he stumbles across the galaxy, eventually meeting his future co-pilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian.

 

But, before you watch the film here are a few things you should know.

 

1. Solo: A Star Wars Story takes place within a decade BEFORE the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, the first breakout film in the iconic Star Wars series that was released in 1977. The Star Wars series is known for the confusing timelines so it’s best that you get a firm understanding of when this particular film will take place in the series. As this film’s timeline is before Star Wars: A New Hope, don’t expect to see Luke & Leia, although keep your eyes out for C3PO and R2D2 who seem to always find themselves in all the Star Wars films no matter what timeline it’s in.

2. This is a Han Solo back story. We’ll finally get a few answers to the burning questions we’ve always had about Han Solo like how he met his trusty, furry, co-pilot and best friend, Chewbacca and how he acquires the famous Millennium Falcon.
