4 Cricket World Cup records which won’t be broken soon

The mega-event of cricket, the ICC World Cup is all set to commence from 30th of May this year as the top 10 teams of the world will battle it out in England and Wales to win the elusive trophy. In the 11 editions of the World Cup played so far, Australia has emerged as the most successful team with 5 World Cup wins to their name.

Apart from this feat, there are various other long-standing records which will be difficult to break in the upcoming tourney. Here are the top 4 World Cup records which will stay as they are even after the conclusion of the 2019 World Cup -

#4 Most wickets in World Cup- Glenn McGrath

Glenn McGrath, the Australian right-arm pacer holds the record of taking the most number of wickets in World Cup history. In the 4 World Cup tournaments that he played, McGrath represented Australia in 39 matches and scalped 71 wickets. None of the current generation bowlers stand a chance of breaking this all-time record. The closest to McGrath amongst the active bowlers is Tim Southee who has 33 wickets but with his age already crossing the 30-mark it will be difficult for him to break the record.

#3 Most runs in World Cup - Sachin Tendulkar

The God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar was India's best batsman for years. He played many World Cups for the country and piled up a mountain of runs. With 2278 runs in the World Cup, Tendulkar is miles ahead of the batsmen who will play the 2019 tournament in terms of the total World Cup aggregate.

#2 Mostnumber of Fours in World Cup - Sachin Tendulkar

Just like Tendulkar is leading the run charts, he is dominating the boundary-hitting leaderboard as well. Sachin had hit 241 fours in his World Cup career. Not even one batsman among the active players has smashed 90 fours. This shows the way Tendulkar manhandled the bowlers in his prime.

#1 Most hundreds in a single edition - Kumar Sangakkara

Kumar Sangakkara hit 4 consecutive centuries in the 2015 World Cup and became the first and only player to record 4 tons in a single World Cup. The Sri Lankan destroyed every bowling attack in the tournament to accomplish a record which every batsman dreams of achieving.
