Doha, October 18, 2026 : Qatar’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) is using Friday sermons at mosques across the country to raise awareness of children’s digital safety as part of a national campaign focused on responsible technology use and family protection.
Led by the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), the campaign will continue through December 26, with sermons highlighting parental responsibility, online risks and the importance of protecting children to strengthen family and social stability.
The initiative reflects cooperation between Awqaf, MSDF and other government institutions to promote consistent awareness messages and help create a safer digital environment for children amid rapid technological change.
Director of Awqaf’s Department of Mosques, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, said Friday sermons provide an important platform for raising awareness of issues affecting families and society, alongside promoting values and religious guidance.
He emphasized that parental involvement is essential to digital safety, requiring ongoing awareness efforts to address challenges arising from technological developments.
According to Sheikh Abdulrahman, the sermons will highlight the role of parents in monitoring and guiding children’s online activities and maintaining open communication with them to encourage safe and responsible technology use.
Awqaf also stressed that protecting and guiding children is both a religious and family responsibility requiring the active involvement of both parents. The sermons will address ways to protect children from cyberbullying, digital exploitation and inappropriate online content, while explaining how families can contact the relevant authorities when assistance is needed.
The initiative reflects broader government coordination on key social issues and supports the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 to build a cohesive society capable of adapting safely and responsibly to changing cultural and technological environments.
