Planning Tips
- Pack layers: Even in summer, evenings in Abha can be genuinely cool, and fog can drop the temperature further with little warning.
- Give yourself three to five days: That's typically enough time to cover the major sights — Jabal Sawda, Rijal Almaa, Art Street, Abha Dam — without rushing.
- Rent a car if you can: Many of the best sights, like Rijal Almaa and Tabab, are outside the city center and easiest to reach independently.
- Respect local customs: As with the rest of Saudi Arabia, modest dress and cultural sensitivity go a long way, particularly in more traditional villages outside the city.
Whether you're drawn by the cool mountain air, the cliffside villages, or simply the chance to see a side of Saudi Arabia that rarely makes it into the postcards, Abha offers a genuinely different kind of trip — one built around fog-wrapped peaks, stone villages clinging to cliffs, and a slower pace than the rest of the Kingdom.
