Somalia’s Defence Ministry has announced that three members of the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab militant group, including two senior commanders, were killed in two security operations in the Middle Shabelle region.
Hideout Targeted Near Daaru-Nima
According to a ministry statement cited by Qatar News Agency, security forces targeted a militant hideout on the outskirts of Daaru-Nima district during the first operation.
The operation resulted in the death of an Al-Shabaab commander and one of his bodyguards. Another member of the group was wounded, according to the statement.
Second Commander Killed in Tawakal
A separate security operation was carried out in the Tawakal district, where another Al-Shabaab commander was killed.
Operations Reported in Middle Shabelle
The two operations were reported as part of ongoing security activity against Al-Shabaab in Somalia. The initial announcement did not provide the names of the commanders or additional details about the timing and duration of the operations.
Security Campaign Continues
Somali authorities have continued operations against Al-Shabaab as part of efforts to reduce the group’s operational capabilities and improve security in areas affected by militant activity.
