The accused admitted that he was also helped by his brother in another country, who cooperated in the procedures for forging the university diploma.

The legal representative indicated that the criminal behaviour was minor. the Public Prosecution applied the charges of having forged an official document that uses a diplomatic seal with an intention to be used abroad. Furthermore, the Department of Counterfeiting and Forgery confirmed that the two stamps on the university diploma were indirect transmissions of counterfeit fingerprints executed on a color printer device, rather than genuine stamps.

According to the Al Sharq article, the penalty was issued in accordance with modern criminal policy in order to ensure that ulterior aims were met; nevertheless, the judgement also took into account the offender's young age and the lack of any prior criminal record.
