Qatar Declares 4 Days Of National Mourning And Suspends Work in Government Institutions Until July 19

The Amiri Diwan has declared four days of national mourning across the country following the passing of His Highness the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. In an official statement, the Amiri Diwan confirmed that the mourning period began on Sunday, July 12, 2026, and will continue for four consecutive days as the nation pays tribute to the late Father Amir's legacy and lifelong contributions to Qatar.

As part of the observance, work in all ministries, government agencies, public bodies, and institutions across the country will be suspended starting Monday, July 13, 2026. Employees are expected to resume their official duties on Sunday, July 19, 2026, once the mourning period concludes. The suspension applies to all public sector entities nationwide.

In addition, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government buildings, public institutions, and official sites throughout the country for the entire duration of the mourning period.
