Tokyo Olympics 2020: Arabs Accomplish Highest Number of Medals in History; Qatar Tops Ranking

Arab athletes accomplished the highest number of medals in the history of their participation at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 which warped up on Sunday evening, winning five golds, five silvers and eight bronzes, while the State of Qatar won its first Olympic gold and topped the ranking of the Arab countries.

Arab athletes had achieved the highest number of medals in Spain Olympics 2004 with four golds, two silvers and two bronzes, however Tokyo Olympics marked another achievement for the Arabs in which Qatar accomplished two gold medals in two events to rank first at the Arab level and 41st globally. Meanwhile, Egypt achieved the highest number of medals in total with one gold, one silver and four bronzes. It is still the most crowned country among the Arabs (8) in front of Morocco (7), while the Algerian participation was disappointing without any medal for the first time since 2004. (QNA)
