The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has said in a tweet that it has launched an investigation into a mother’s complaint about a teacher giving sedative pills to some students at a private school.

The investigation follows a complaint by a mother alerting the authorities about the incident.

The pills were allegedly given to relieve exam anxiety and stress.

“The Ministry would like to state that it has started an investigation as soon as it received a mother’s complaint about a teacher at a private school giving some pills to students,” the Ministry said in a tweet.

The Ministry added that it will issue a statement after completing the investigation and stressed its keenness to ensure the safety and health of students and guarantee a safe school environment.

Earlier, the mother, @NawaryH, tweeted in Arabic, tagging the Ministry and two Arabic mediapersons, saying that “at a private secondary school, a teacher distributed sedative pills to female students in the classroom to relieve exam anxiety!!”
