Hall won the prize back in May and British viewers tuned in to watch the events unfold seven months after the historic achievement in South Africa.

The 29-year-old has now retired from the sport to catch up on missed time with his family, but was happily tweeting as the final was shown to his fellow countrymen and woman.

Hall also reminded everyone of exactly how much the win meant to him.

‘So a promise I made to my nan became a true honour,’ Hall wrote on Twitter.

‘I only wish she was here to see it and celebrate with us! 10 years of absolute shear determination and sacrifice.

So a promise I made to my nan became a true honour. 🏆 I only wish she was here to see it and celebrate with us! 10 years of absolute shear determination and sacrifice. 2018 Set goals and smash them, if your will power and drive is strong enough then you can do, be and succeed at anything you want. Best advice I can give anyone... Rome wasn’t built in a day! Be consistent and be awesome. Make those around you proud! Hall was the first Brit to win the tournament in over 20 years and viewers were on the edge of their seats as he won the title by a single point ahead of Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, Game of Thrones’ The Mountain, and four-time winner Brian Shaw.
