PEN American Center has pledged its support to the Qatari journalists, media professional and writers who were accused by the siege countries as supporting terrorism. The non-profit which advocates for freedom of expression will coordinate with Qatar’s National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in defending them, said a report in QNA.

James Tager, senior manager of free expression at the PEN American Center, expressed the organization’s solidarity to NHRC Chairman Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri who is on a visit to New York. Al Marri appreciated the stance taken by the center and requested the organization to expose human rights violations against Qatari journalists as well as citizens. He explained the various illegal practices and human rights violations by the siege countries to the center’s officials.

Both sides affirmed their resolve to implement recommendations of a conference on freedom of expression organized by NHRC in July which has seen the participation of more than 200 organizations.
