$200m Contract for Turkish Firm to Build Highway in Qatar

Turkish firm Tekfen Holding has awarded a QR729.6 million (nearly $200 million) contract to build a highway in Qatar by Ashghal.  Tekfen Construction, a subsidiary, got the contract to build the Eastern Industrial Road, The Peninsula reported.  


The project, which includes nearly 2.5-km highway with two viaducts, will be completed over a 27-month period. 

The number of Tekfen’s projects in Qatar has reached four with this, including the $2.1bn Al Khor expressway, the largest contract in Tekfen’s history. The ongoing projects have valued at $2.5 billion and the total business value of Tekfen’s projects has risen to nearly $5 billion in Qatar since its entry into the country in 2005, the report states.
