Eggs from chickens have long been a big source of protein for us in our diets due to just how much of the nutrient is in them as well as just how delicious they can be, but have you ever stopped to wonder how so many of them end up on the shelves of your local grocery store?

Animal rights has been a growing issue ever since we learned things besides us could feel pain and anguish, but at the same time we have to produce enough foodstuffs to feed a whole hell of a lot of people across the globe. Chickens and their eggs being a very large portion of many people’s diets these days have caused many to start looking into how the animals are being treated while we raise and harvest them, and what they’ve discovered has been absolutely shocking and sickening. The chickens are left in tiny little cages for the entirety of their lives until they’re ready to be sent off to the slaughterhouse, prompting a whole slew of activist groups to protest the process. This in turn has caused a rise in the number of free range chicken farms which provide an overall way better quality of life for the animals.

Other than those there’s still many factories doing things in the “assembly line” fashion, and this “How it’s Made” video shows you one of them.
